US veterans suffering from PTSD and their family members have a new, convenient resource for dealing with managing the symptoms of this disabling condition.
The PTSD Coach app was developed by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense to create a mobile method of helping US veterans cope with life after combat when they've been diagnosed with PTSD. The concept for this phone app is that, unlike other treatment methods like group therapy, the PTSD Coach can travel wherever a veteran takes their phone.
This new therapy is not a replacement for a doctor's treatment and traditional care, but rather a companion to approved therapy measures.
The PTSD Coach app provides users with:
One of the most useful tools PTSD Coach provides is documentation of your symptoms so your doctor can better assess your progress in managing your condition. As these symptoms are documented, the app also provides self-management tools to help you cope with the onset of panic attacks, anxiety, or anger management problems.
Both veterans and families of veterans can use this new tool to help discover new ways to handle life with PTSD and develop a good strategy to alleviate the symptoms.
