President Obama Addresses PTSD Suicide and the Stigma of Iraq Veterans

PTSD in Iraq War veterans was addressed by President Barak Obama recently. He continues to benevolently support the fair treatment of veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as combat-injured soldiers.

President Barack Obama's decision back in July 2011 to begin sending letters of condolence to the families of veterans who commit suicide while in a combat zone is one of the many measures he is taking to draw attention to the sensitive topic of mental health.

While speaking at the Annual American Legion Conference back in August, President Obama stated that he is committed to continuing to improve the outreach and suicide prevention programs for troops and veterans coming back from the Iraq War and increase support for PTSD tolerance.

Depression and PTSD conditions have long since been stigmatized by society and only recently have disabled veterans gotten the acknowledgement they deserve.

Veterans benefits now include PTSD as a disabling condition that can qualify for a disability rating, and new programs are being worked on to help provide job training and opportunities to PTSD victims. Many of the Obama administrations' initiatives include focusing on increasing job creation for former service members and endorse tax credits to companies who hire veterans.

You Have the Power to Help a Disabled American Veteran!

Our veterans deserve the utmost care and respect in exchange for their sacrifice and service to our country, yet many suffer with disabling medical conditions and illness and struggle to make ends meet after life in the service. At Care for Disabled Veterans our goal is to assist qualified veterans in obtaining the medical evidence they need to seek their rightful benefits for combat-related disabilities.
