Coping with PTSD Symptoms: Veterans of the Gulf War (Part B)

PTSD Symptoms in Veterans Should Never Be Ignored

Healing cannot happen if you do not acknowledge the problem, and many Persian Gulf War veterans are unable to get the care they need for their disabilities. The more Gulf War veterans that are able to obtain treatment and successfully beat PTSD, the more veterans we can help overall.

As PTSD becomes more acknowledged in society as a serious disorder that anyone can suffer, more veterans will hopefully admit they need to seek help to cope with the symptoms. The best way to get more veterans help with their conditions is to make the process simpler, but the VA system has been slow in doing so.

Veterans advocacy groups have been working in 2 main areas to help bring more Persian Gulf War veterans the PTSD care they need. The first part is raising awareness of the seriousness of PTSD and the effect it can have on a Gulf War veteran, their caretakers and families. As PTSD becomes more common in our veterans everyone needs to help create a supportive environment to make life easier for these victims.

The second and most effective method used by veterans advocacy groups to help reduce PTSD symptoms in veterans is offer access to Independent Medical Exams (IME).
To obtain a disability rating for PTSD symptoms veterans must get a diagnosis from a mental health professional. These exams can cost money that many Persian Gulf War veterans do not have.

Care for Disabled Veterans helps provide veterans with the financing for their IMEs, all through donations from people like you.
The volunteers also work on helping veterans connect with the correct doctors and health care facilities that offer these exams so they don't waste time and effort seeing the wrong specialist.

You Have the Power to Help Disabled Persian Gulf War Veterans!

Medical evidence is a critical component in the successful fight for veterans' disability benefits. Unfortunately, many veterans lack the financial resources to obtain an independent medical exam (IME) that can provide this crucial evidence. These deserving men and women are left to rely on the VA medical system, which may not always provide the best assessment of their conditions.

At Care for Disabled Veterans we focus on connecting qualified veterans to doctors and health care facilities that provide IME services for disability claims. We are a non-profit organization that relies on donations to help provide the funding necessary to obtain these records and help disabled American veterans qualify for combat-related disability benefits. You can help a vet and make the most of your donation.
