How the US Veterans Administration GI Bill Helps Veterans Return to College (Part A)

For veterans returning to college, the US Veterans Administration GI Bill provides much-needed education benefits for helping an American veteran transition from combat to career. The US Veterans Administration has an extensive FAQ website that helps explain all about the GI Bill so veterans can have easy access to important info.

Navigating the VA GI Bill Website

The US Veterans Administration's GI Bill, which began in 1944 as the Servicemen's Readjustment Act, has undergone many changes over the years.

The VA's GI Bill website provides information and assistance to any American veteran that's seeking to learn about their government educational benefits.
Veterans returning to college can find forms, tips and lessons on how to begin the application process.

The GI Bill site lays out a 3-step process to obtaining education benefits and walks you through each step of the way:

  • Choosing a School - in this section of the site, the VA explains factors to consider when choosing a school, as well as information about which education programs and exams are approved.
  • Applying for Benefits - on this page, you can view the Veterans Online Application (VONAPP) and access all the necessary and important documents you'll need when applying for the GI Bill.
  • Verifying Attendance - to assist with the third step in getting GI benefits, the VA site explains their verification process and provides online access to the Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system.

Still, there are plenty of questions that can arise when you're trying to learn about your benefits and how they work. To answer these important questions, the US Veterans Administration supplies the public with a Q&A website application that deals with all the details of the GI Bill education credits for veterans.

If you're a veteran, a caregiver of a veteran, or simply want to support U.S. veterans, you can become a volunteer to help other veterans get back to a normal life and help them with their needs.
